Topic: Drug Abuse in Adolescence period
INTRODUCTION
Conscientization is a popular education and social concept developed by Brazilian educational theorist Paulo Freire. It includes taking action against the oppressive elements in one's life that are illuminated by understanding.
As part of the B.Ed curriculum, we the teacher trainees conducted a conscientization programme during the teaching practice in the school M.K.L.M.H.S.S Kannanalloor. We selected the topic "Drug Abuse in Adolescence period." We conducted the programme on 9th January 2018, in 9 D. Drug abuse is a serious health problem that affects almost every community and family in someway. It plays a major role in problems such as drugged driving, violence, stress and child abuse.

OBJECTIVES
•To develop a deep sense of awareness towards securing our life from drug abuse
•To find out the ill effects of drug addiction
•To sensitize students about social and personal problems associate with drug usage
The young generation, particularly teenagers are the worst victims of evils of drug addiction. The students were attentive and found interested in the class. We started the class by an introduction talk about drug abuse and it was carried out by me. We showed a collash of drugs related newspaper reports. Later Darsana from English option talked about the types of drugs and it's examples. It was an absolutely informative part and students actively responded to her questions. Then Jaseena from Natural Science option, gave detailed information about the social problems of drug addiction. She listed a number of problems like suicide,accident,violence etc. The health problems of drug abuse were explained by Praveena from Natural Science option. The next part was a short film presentation by Aquina Bastin from Physical Science option. Majority of the students were moved by the short film. We used PowerPoint and chart to transact the idea to the students. The programme was concluded with a speech by myself. The class found effective and at last they took a pledge that they won't use drug substances and prevent their friends from its usage.
CONCLUSION
On the whole the class was informative and students moved by our talk. We executed the programme in a good way and made students aware of the ill effects of drugs intake. They understood what a drug abuse is and it's harmful effects on body and they responded actively throughout the programme.
